Hoax #1 The "Single Line" Hoaxes! In the recent weeks we've been getting a large number of new but very simple-minded virus hoaxes. These hoaxes are not elaborately designed hoaxes designed to prey upon the fears and misconceptions of the average user like the The "Good Times" virus hoax These new hoaxes are one or two line hoaxes that look like this:
These hoaxes are all short one or two line so-called warnings. (I guess the hoax writers are getting lazy...) Since we have been warning about disregarding any message that says to "forward" it on, we have seen other terminology used. These hoaxes usually say to "Pass it on" rather than forward. Some of these seem to be directed to damage the reputation of some reputable companies. Here is the most widespread example of this type of hoax: Do not open Blue Mountain Cards until further notice. Virus has infiltrated their system..pass it on Note, that they don't elaborate on what exactly is infected and provide no way to check out the validity of the statement. If you see request in a so-called warning to "Pass it on." you should immediately disregard the message or (better yet) tell the sender that it's most likely a hoax.
